Awesome... the titanium screws and some spare parts arrived from Banzai today.
Gotta admit a hop up like this is a bit of RC bliss in my book...
Deserving the gold ribbon that's on it!

I think I have about everything I need to build this car! Almost all titanium screws now. :woohoo:

I've been postponing this build because I needed some more parts for reassembly...
But mostly because it would mean another FRP polish. Had a bit of an overdose of that.
I'd like to start building when I think I have everything in stock that I had in mind for the car.
Too many projects stalling with a different approach...
Excuses are getting fewer though :

All I'm gonna need from the tree are the wheel hubs so that seems a bit wasteful.
But I have a (far) future idea for an ultralight Group C for which I'll dremel the spaceframe.
Having Group C hubs on this F103 will have the great advantage that I can switch tyres among all the on road cars I have.

:)

Progress! I had already put the steel diff balls in but now it's time to remove them :

So they can be replaced with ceramic specimen :

The spur is 0.4 module (racing) by Kawada. Twice as many diff balls as a regular F103.
I am only using the wheel hubs ( A ) from the Group C tree...
Luckily the special (clinching) nuts ( B ) needed for this are in stock.
A one piece ball thrust bearing ( C ) will serve as another hop up for adjusting the diff tension :

Some black alloy wheel nuts for the finishing touch :

Finding out I've grabbed the wrong diff housing - one for an F102 that's too short :

Guess that's why I had that spare gear set around...
I'll have to use the part for an F103 :

Making a much better fit :

Last detail are the diff tension parts and lock nut...
Anodising that silver diff spacer blue would really top things off :

Next on the list - wiring up the Formula Tuned motor...

Nope, next on the list - rebuilding the gearcase with carbon reinforced parts from the F104 :

Front end's finally together as well. Update to follow soon. :)

Question of the day - how many hop ups are in this picture?

Warning: Spoiler!

Finished front end :

Formula link-type front suspension, carbon reinforced knuckles and a Kawada set for camber and castor adjustment. B)
Not even mentioning the titanium screws...
Only thing that could be added are black e-clips instead of the silver ones.

I went for a setup with -2.6 degrees camber and 7.5 degrees castor :

Got to love the standard of the proof reading on the translation on those instructions, "Dula Cokkar" indeed :pinch: :silly:

I'm just glad they put some Engrish on it at all. Would have been quite the puzzle. :side:
They probably had to save money on the translator 'cause the quality of the bits themselves is excellent.
Which is reflected in the price I paid for them last year.

FRP refurbished :

The quality of the Cross motor mount is less excellent...
After wondering yet again why it's so hard to clamp down some 8mm countersunk screws, I decided to retap the threads.
That worked quite well (weird though that they weren't deep enough)...

Thnx, not sure if it really works well but it looks the bomb at least. :cheer:

Some say crazy, I say detail :

Now :

Rear end's now 1.5mm lower by using the axle height adjusters on the right (left is neutral for Group C and F101-F103 ) :

Height of the new F104 reinforced gearcase part may cause a bit of an issue later on :

The cool stuff you don't see - ceramic diff balls (and a ball bearing) :

Next, cleaning up the long upper deck (F103GT) I'll put on. B)
