It looks as run on carpet/indoor, and had the motor replaced recently to relive memories?

I stripped the chassis yesterday, the two halves had been glued together with evostick - I've scraped the subchassis here, but the (black) chassis is yet to be done in this photo@
Bits that were small enough to go in the tank produced this dirty water: ... & this crud in the bottom of the tank: I wouldn't mind so much but that all came from these few bits : The edges of the GRP bits was holding a bit of dirt, so I sanded the edges: ... and sealed them with X-22 Clear: |

Funny the avante 2001 im going to rebuild has the same problem around the edges of the chassis i may try sanding back like you have and clear coating it too. on the avante 2011 it tells you during the build to seal the edges with glue would this obtain the same finish?

I've seen superglue suggested, but I've used clear on a couple of Scorcher chassis & vintage Sand Rover/Holiday Buggy rear "springs", so stuck (pardon pun) with that |

A few more details ...
The wheels had about 3mm protruding on the inside, so some very gentle work with a scalpel followed by sanding saw that off ... I suppose I should have done a bit of research to check what width the tyres should be, but chances are I'll never have to put a new set of tyres on ... The antenna was missing, but I have a spare used one ... before: ... and after sanding/treating with Bilt Hamber "Hydrate 80" rust killer: I don't have a "before" pic, but this is the underside of the chassis after sanding & waxing: |

Got on with building the chassis last night ...
Getting a head start on "gluing" the chassis: Step 1 (gluing the tyres) was already done, step 2 (gluing the chassis) I'd already done, step 3 was starting the motor pod: Step 4 was trimming, painting & fitting the undercowl - obviously the trimming was already done, but I'd put a second coat of black on ... Step 5 was assembling the rear axle & diff: Step 6 was fitting the axle, step 7 fitting the motor, step 7 assembling the top of the motor cage: Step 9 (fitting the battery straps), 10 ("chassis stay") & 11 (top of the battery cage & standoffs): Steps 12, 13 & 14 were building & fitting the rear shock: ... |
