Hi everyone, I bought a Porsche 959 new in Tokyo back in 1986, and over the years it sat in my den where (regrettably) I sold it on eBay 5 years ago.
I have regretted it ever since, but i have now sourced a few models and I'm going to strip down and rebuild what I have now bought. My question is... apart from warm soapy water, what else can I use to clean the gear box and all the gears, screws etc? Also, is there a site out there (apart from eBay) where I can source spares, paint, polycarbonate body and decals? Any feedback would be great! Many thanks.
Current projects:

Hi there and welcome to the
To build or not to build that is the question. You could put some backing soda in the soapy water I read that in a build threat from an Italian guy who rebuilded his car. Another nice thingy for cleaning is an ultrasonic cleaner. What also works good is to get the majority off the dirt of with a dry brush and the grease with papertowels before pitching it in the soapy water. Oh and dont forget to make pictures of every step you take, we love pictures

Hi and welcome!
If you're looking for vintage parts, eBay is usually the place to be. Unless the car has been rereleased... So it kinda depends on what model(s) you're searching parts for. Like waterbok said, we love pictures! |

The hubs (drive cups) have a circular clip on the inside, securing them to the ball bearing. Almost impossible to get the clips off, but only almost... Very nice chassis, btw! Signature now gets correct formatting if you edit it in your Profile. Use normal BBcode if you want.

Sorry, I misunderstood you...
The hubs are actually not secured with anything, but, yes, they are very hard to get off. Signature now gets correct formatting if you edit it in your Profile. Use normal BBcode if you want.

No probs... I think I may have to soak them overnight in WD40, as I'm worried I may break them with a socket wrench! Cheers.
