Sorry guys,
I didn't know that the manta ray had 2 bevels diffs.
And why the drive gear is in alloy and in 2 parts?

Is TBG a good mark for repro bodies set?

TGB is a good mark for repro bodies. Check the price for a re release Manta body and check the TBG body. If there's no difference in price take the Tamiya that remains still the best. Keep in mind that TBG repro bodies are 95% identical to Tamiya's but not 100%. If you are not a big observer you don't see differences.

Manta Ray has two bevel gears differentials, both front and rear.

With two aluminum gears? Who knows?
Replace all the gears with full plastic TA01 ones.

Yeah, best not to use the alloy gears but the TA02 ones...
They're part of the evolution I think and disappeared later.
If I'm not mistaken, the Top Force already had a single alloy gear.
Here's a few that became ninja stars (no doubt leaving the residu inside the gearbox) :

Ball diff is 13 euro included shipping at Banzai Hobby.
But I suspect you may have one lying around...
If you can't find it among that huge collection!

:P

I like TBG but tbh I think they're stretching the price a bit for what you get...

;)
Some years ago, I bought a big lot of TA/manta ray parts and I found the ninja stars  I confirm that the rest of grease is full metalic grey  .
But I don't understand why there are 2 bevels diff  I think that if I buy the MR I will mount the ball diff...

I suspect to keep the basic price of the kit low (I think it was surprisingly cheap back then)...
And promote aftermarket sales at the same time with a bunch of cool hop ups.

:) After Two wihte night of very hard reflexion and no response of a seller, I think that I will rebuild a manta ray with my stock of pieces. I certainly can build one or two cars. And with a TBG body it will be ok for a pur jus runner.

I do think there was a commercial plan behind it...
Easy to access but upgradable for racing.

;)

No doubt it's less maintenance with gear diffs...

Blazing Star bodies are quite easy to come by and exactly the same as the Terra Conqueror.
Which I think is a beauty of a shell (and an original probably cheaper than a TBG Manta Ray)...
