Hi everyone,
It's time to start another project. I got this Thundershot a while ago, i was kinda lucky to get it this one with a lot a new parts. All of them were packed in sealed bags and none are re-re (at least i think so ) It came with the orginal box and manual. This is how the car arrived...note that the previous owner was a "gazpacho" fan Body pictures I removed all the decals, and the body went into a Brake fluid bath This is the end result....note that the lexan became a bit whitened.... The next step was to polish the interior of the lexan body....The purpose is to remove the whitened parts due to the Brake fluid action...
The result is better than expected.... After masking the blue parts Time for painting..... As the paint is drying, i got me an re-re decal set, scanned it and printed it on a glossy transparent A4 decal sheet. I took the oppportunity to add a helmet decal and replace the fake sponsors with the original vintage logos like Champion and Progas and Monroe ones in order to keep the vintage look. Very nice work.
Did the clear bits (window) also whiten or just where there had been paint? If the latter is the case, I think eddrick's theory (where you at, man?) that it's caused by the initial paint job gets more valid. |

Hi Edou, In fact the lexan only got "white" spots were it has been previously painted. I think Eddrick's theory is right...it all depends on what kind of paint the body was painted. Apparently it wasn't lexan appropriate paint..i can tell you so because the reaction with brake fluid was better than expected. Proud owner of the Bruiser Family
