The motor cover has just arrived and i have two questions,is it rubber or some kind of plastic? I can't make up my mind,it's flexible but i think it's gone a little hard, any tips on softening or 'feeding' it a little?

It is rubber but so old that it cracks. You should put it in the JR special tires bath

Cheers Jonny,i hope i can track some down in super enviromentally friendly Sweden, right now its soaking in a jar of DOT 4,but i've got an M38 Willy arriving shortly and also a decent set of tyres for the Blazer on the way too so i would definately like to try out this method on both sets.

peanut oil does wonders too, and is pretty much odourless.

used it on the tires of my Monster Hilux

that should be environment friendly enough
