Following on from my Manta Ray TFE project I started on this Tamiya Egress last year.

This was the pic on the original auction listing.

As you can see it was a risky buy, the pic weren't great and the auction was ending soon so no time to ask questions, placed a bid and got it!
As she arrived.

Started the strip

Dirty as!

Cleaned the plastic parts by soaking them overnight in water and washing up liquid, then got rid of any dirt that was left with a toothbrush and cloth.

I used this cleaner/degreaser on the metal parts.

Cleaned up the Hi-Caps and refilled with fresh damper oil.

Cleaned all the metal parts today too.

Front

Rear

Ordered some of these front Avante lightweight wheels :D

And rears + C3 parts as they needed replacing

And started the rebuild.

Rebuilt the front end, ignore the rubber bits on the suspension, I sort that later ;)

Front Hi-Cap dampers fitted.

Drivetrain complete and Dynatech 01R (stolen from another model lol) and 18T pinion fitted as per the manual.

There were a few screws missing from this kit but they'll all be replaced as i go along.

Rear arms fitted.

C parts and tie rods fitted

Rear shock tower and Hi-caps fitted.

Correct Hi-cap spacers now fitted at the front.

And we're rolling!

Painted the wheels, needed an extra coat then left overnight and touched up with a brush this morning.

Wheels and tyres fitted to the chassis.

Egress body from tbg and genuine decals.

Started to trim the body

Made an error with the painting, think I got away with it, just.

Spent 2 hours on the decals as I wanted to do my best after the mistake with the paint on the body.

Anyway it's not perfect, but not a bad effort if I do say so myself :)

The paint mishap is mainly covered by the orange sticker.

The wing mount is from a top force one but does the job...

THE END

Thanks for looking :)

She's a beauty. It came out nicely in the end. Good job on cleaning all the parts, That's the part I hate in a rebuild.
