Be careful what you put on lexan (polycarbonate) bodies. I think cellulose thinners will attack it.
JR's favourite De-Solve It Graffiti Remover is (I think) safe on polycarbonate. I got my bottle from Screwfix for about a tenner.

In my experience it got the paint off ok, but made the shell go cloudy :(

DOT 4 is what I have been using for years...

But, please notice that Brake fluid will cloud older Lexan shells (actually those made of Polycarbonate, before Lexan was introduced.)

Please correct me if I'm wrong, but Lexan is just a trade name for polycarbonate, isn't it? If so, I assumed since then both names are meaning just the same stuff.

That is correct, Lexan is a trade name for Polycarbonate, but I am sure that whatever existed before "Lexan" did not have all the same properties as the later Lexan.

I reckon so. Before that time there might have been bigger differences in the basic material and it's reactiveness...
Not all modern PCs are exactly the same of course.
Modern polycarbonate seems to be more flexible and a bit less brittle at least.
But production of the actual shell (and temperature) could also be of influence to that.

A bit of simultaneousness there.
I'm sure this could trigger eddrick's keyboard finger...

Edit - I've thrown (not literally, that might be hazardous) a Top Force shell into caustic soda and that didn't cloud...
Isn't the basic ingredient of "Graffiti Remover" also lye?
Besides that, nitro can sometimes gives good results (haven't tried it myself yet).
I have noticed that paints react to different substances quite differently...
Or sometimes even not at all! Good paint will really "grab" the lexan.

:pinch:

You could also try DOT 3 (instead of DOT 4) brake fluid at first - that's a bit less invasive...
