What thickness?

Thickness can vary - as long as the inner dimensions are 6x7mm.
So 7x8x1 would be okay or 8x9x2... What I can find starts at 10x10, anything else only comes in brass. I could make it smaller of course but don't have that many good tools to make it slick enough. I'm gonna have a look at local hardware stores today as well. Edit - not the greatest drawing in the first post... |

I'll make some more and send you a couple too.
Can't hurt to use, even if the gearbox is still good. I could even do a black anodisation session on them... Blue washer and countersunk titanium screw on the Humvee. Should be picking up my miter saw (verstekzaag - I googled) tomorrow. That'll make straight cuts a lot easier. Just gotta find an iron saw for it. And maybe get a cheap punch so I'll be able to center the drill better. I was also thinking a spacer that fits well underneath the bridge (and around the screw) would be a nice addition. |

Start with something bigger & cut it down?
Look at other sections that could be modified too, eg box, T, I, U, Z etc. I'm assuming the radius at the bend of a bent flat is a no no...

Yep, that's what did. Luckily I could get a 10x10x1 L-section nearby and went for that. I wanted to look for something that matched right away because I had little confidence without good tools. But my good 'ole block of wood helped me achieve some accuracy. Normally I'd have a look at Phil's hobby shop for tube and what not btw... |

I'm currently selling a hefty vice on Ebay that would've sorted you out - it's heavy enough to not need a bench for minor chopping & drilling! - Maybe something like that could be a better step up from a piece of tree?
I've missed the point on this anyway, what's the bracket for? What's it doing? (I'd already posted before seeing the pic, but that hasn't really enlightened me either)
