Tamiya has released picture of the coming "1/12 VW Type?2 ?T1) Willy"

The picture does show that the body will be a Safari model with the small windows around the top. Also there will be a Wild Willy driver.
The speculation is now whether or not the shall will be hard plastic or Lexan. I believe (and hope) it will be hard plastic, simply because this is Tamiya making it, and they should not settle for less detail than on the Lunchbox.
Chassis is still uncertain, it could be the Lunchbox chassis, but it can also be the WW2 chassis.

I gonna have that one just for the body..

I'm a huge T1 fan, so just hve to have that one....

Just hope they have made it accurate when it comes to dimenssions...

According to a Youtube video posted by TamiyaAmerica which they talked about the new and upcoming releases, it's supposed to be on a chassis similar to the Wild Willy. Apparently all of the new releases will be unveiled at Tamiya Fair this upcoming week. So we'll see!

Seriously, the argument that Tamiya should not re-release cars because it devalues vintage kits just doesn't hold water. No matter what a vintage kit changes hands for, unlike pensions or footballers there's no trail commission: Tamiya get nothing for it - de nada, zip, zilch, squat, nitto, nowt, zero.



Agree with you about the Wheeler though - I'd love to see a proper re-release - not the half-arsed "most of the bodykit & post an article how you can convert a Wild Willy 2 with crap wheels" approach last time ... though given Tamiya's insensitivity it'll probably appear on a DT-02 chassis
