That looks very promising ... which probably means we'll get absoultely caned on the price

The question is how much of a premium are Tamiya going to charge over a high lift?

I'm guessing the UK price will be something like 650 to 750 GBP :(

There is so meany bruisers on e bay in the last few months , it's not funny .
I am now seeing blazing blazer on e bay as well . So i am hoping that will come out at some time next year . There are a few e bay pages of bruisers , 4x4 hilux , B, blazers , mountaineers , most from hong kong , japan . Funny all the sellers trying to get rid of them B4 the price drops .

NIB re re price ??? . Now that would be interesting . What did the NIB bruiser cost in the 80's ?. I'm sure it was NZ $1050 , with transmitter & battery . I have the price in one of my tamiya mags .

Well well looks like Tamiya is on track with another re-issue.
Yeh it looks real close.
LARS MAYBE you can get us some better pics of it??

If its even 80% close to the 1985-issue.... metal chassis, 3-speed/750 motor box, ect.....
YOUR[anyones] original Bruiser will be worth EL CHEAPO in collector values.
Dump it now!!!! :P

IDK about all of you guys...across the pond...
But here goes on the insane prices the Bruiser went for in 1985 in the USA;
$300usd and up[hobbyshop pricing mark-ups], boat-anchor heavy-stupid 4000mah ni-cad battery; $50usd,
The 4000mah quick charger $50usd, then a nice 3-4channel radio to even work the thing $150?!
Or if you really wanted to be cool,...
you had to get the $175 Futaba radio with the gear box 'shift-pattern' on one side of the trans to actually 'shift' the thing.
I still have a old mag add somewhere with pics of this crazy Futaba radio setup made just for the Bruiser?!
So for around $600usd you could finally run your new bruiser in 1985!

You could buy a nice, used, 'running' car in 1985 for $600 or a good motorcycle!
Who could afford it?
Then if you did get it running 100%, it only ran for like 20mins, bounced, clanked, creaked its way to like 15mph....!:pinch:
BUT if your buddy's parents bought him one...then it was wayy cool!! hahaahaha
This is why you now have to pay like $1000-up for a NIB Bruiser.

I'm sorry, I just never got the whole BRUISER thing....
3speed trans/750 motor, Toyota 4X4 chassis/ functions were cool, but it was wayyyy over priced for what you got.
I know, I've owned 2 of them. I got lucky and sold mine for $500 each on ebay in 2000.

NOW hold your selves....expect good old kind-hearted Tamiya to now make history in offering the highest price in history for a electric R/C 'kit' minus any radio/running hardware;
$1000-1200usd I would guess is ball-park????:S

Look at the XR311, re-issue is very close to original.
Good luck making any $$$$$ on your original XR311.
SO if anyone wants to see your [once high priced] bruiser go to a good home....
I'd give you like $300 for it now?
this time next year...if your lucky....$200/ BUT you can sleep good at night knowing I'll take it out and beat the gutts outta it! :silly:  :silly:  :silly:

The moral of this story is, unless you have maybe a Tamiya F1 car, B2B, willy wheeler, Super Champ....your Tamiya car[collected and paid a premium] is going to be re-issued.
We all might aswell start collecting Barbie dolls???:woohoo:

The new Bruiser seem to follow the same path as for example the Sand Scorcher.
It is full of small changes that will make the original Bruiser just as original as it was yesterday:
- new gearbox with clutch
- black painted ladder frame
- new axles
- body has slight differences
- wheels seem to be Mountaneer ones.
- 540 motor, not the original 750.

So, I'm happy that this re re will probably not be confused with the real deal :cheer:

Re: return of the Toyota Bruiser! 12 years 3 months ago #6618

Tamiya USA just posted it to their website. Here's the link:

www.tamiyausa.c...t-id=58519

MSRP is listed at $1,295 USD.... Although they usually overprice it on their site. Usually the hobby sites like Tower Hobbies usually drop it down a bunch. So it'll probably cost around $800 USD or so. Still pretty steep....
