Gonna be a bit of a copycat from Lars' Black Porsche topic.
Using a different colour though :

Not in the black 58001 league to be honest. But a fun build nonetheless. :pinch:
I'm actually just getting the body but I have the majority of other parts here to make a nice runner out of it. :cheer:

But which (obvious) car is it?

It has been guessed by now, so I changed the topic title. ;)

So the clue is the colour you're going to paint it, _not_ what colour it usually is? :S

what colour it usually is

That's the (legendary) connection... and I can't really go astray on that. B)

Bull's eye! On a Group C chassis naturally. :cheer:

Originally looks like this - just as a reminder :

A car I was very impressed with in the eighties. Not so much for the beauty but more for the beast that it is. B)
Of course, seeing it a few times on the track and leaning on it a bit for the picture has made the memories quite vivid.

This model got my Group C fever going - when I forwarded one to Lars...
When I had the chance to trade the body I couldn't resist planning another build - having most parts already available.

Should become a nice runner. Modest, with no hop up mania.
Also seems to make sense to drive an F40 before doing any good with a C11.

A wintery project. Probably waiting to be driven at the first crack of spring... :S

Sorry if I whizzed on your chips by guessing too quickly ;)

I've loved the F40 since seeing it (and the Porsche 959) in Test Drive II - The Duel on the Amiga in 1989 ... both cars had the steering and braking response of supertankers, but it looked & sounded cool :D

Is it "Big Red" from Lawnmower man? (I own something very similar, but it's currently rotting happily somewhere in my mum's garden)

The Group C cars are actually quite big... but no, it's not a lawnmower. :pinch:
Wouldn't it be fun to make a radio controlled one though? :woohoo:

I love this car. What's most brilliant about it, is that you would pay a price for it that's equal to buying several houses and then you get no luxury whatsover. But a very awesome big go-kart!
Don't even think it has power steering or anything like that.
If I remember well, the door opener is a chord you have to pull. :pinch:

But at that time I was an even bigger fan of it's rival - the 959.
Have to say I was a little bummed out when the F40 beat the Porsche on top speed by a few kilometres...
A quarter of a century later, the Ferrari has actually stood the test of time a bit better I think.
