Edou, i'm living at the birth-place of the metal-industry...

What? Sheffield?

That was in relation to germany but it is very old indeed. From the 18th century. I'm new to that kind of industry 'cause i'm new to this area called "ruhrgebiet". Partially not the brightest place on earth :D

Sorry guys, that would be in Serbia. :silly:

The first evidence of this extractive metallurgy dates from the 5th and 6th millennium BC, and was found in the archaeological sites of Majdanpek, Yarmovac and Plocnik, all three in Serbia.

Okay, it's wikipedia.

Funkindemup, I'll have a look around for you as well. :y:

Uh, the Titan Screws are cheaper than the alloys... Alloys are very expensive.

I hadn't even noticed that.
Pretty sure eddrick would know a good place to get 'em...
That would mean a UK supplier after all.

I think it's stupid to get these screws.

I weighed 20 pieces of the M3x10mm screws of the Manta Ray. The have a weight of 12gramm.
The top force has more than 70 screws and i've just note the one which are more there than 5times. About 66, let's say 70 screws of steel switched to titan would be a saving of ~21gramm! Would be about 3% of the whole car weight.

Dude, that's a lot of weight! :woohoo:

Seriously though, it doesn't really matter much on a buggy anyway. Maybe on a competitive on road car...
It's fun to do though, even if it's a bit insane.

Carbon axle and titanium screws for my (former) Group C :

Gonna make an even lighter one at some point. :silly:

If you wanna go save weight on a DF-01, you might as well go nuts all the way. :silly:
Those anodised alloy nuts from the German site (they are pretty), carbon gear shafts, titanium wheel axles...
And of course (lightweight) Top Force Evo diffs.
There's gotta be a few more... $$$ DF-01.

That carbon axle on a C car is a pretty big hit on the total - 22 grams (no movie poster)! :side:
