No, the weather has really been against me on all my projects - there hasn't been a window where I could get out & do some spraying since October. Mostly it's been far too cold and/or actually raining/snowing, sometimes it's been too cold & too humid, and the one hour (really, I'm not exaggerating) where the temperature and humidty were just about ok for spraying primer, it was far too windy. I don't think I cant remember an autumn/winter/spring that has been this level of sustained cold/wet since the 80's |

Very late to the salt technique party, but I don't think I've ever had anything I wanted to make look this bad before ...
Worked out where I wanted the "rust", dampened those ares & sprinkled on table salt: Left to dry out thouroughly, then sprayed over: Wheels after washing: Chassis: And body: What I've learned from this: - it's not a one shot process, several more techniques are going to be needed (rubbing down/through, washes, more paint, dry brushing etc) to get the look I want - but I always planned on extra work; - red oxide primer is not a great choice for the "rust" colour - random mottling/airbrushing with matt orange and Humbrol "rust" + the red oxide in a camouflage pattern would have been more convincing, expecially on the chassis; - it works best where a very light colour coat is used. - it's another useful technique in the weathering armoury, but should be used with a lighter touch than I did here |

Not an affect I would be doing but I have seen plenty of examples and like the finished product, However in all the examples I have seen they used a heaver rock salt to achieve the look?
If you can't fix it with a hammer, you've got an electrical problem mate

For the chassis and body it looks like the paint was used. And we only see the primer layer. I like it.
