I noticed the SRBs and the cars using the Wild Willy gearbox have 0.6 module gears.
Are these pinions very specific or can they be replaced by regular specimen?


Other than that the pinion is put on backwards on the Super Champ.

Second request - anybody have info on the module used on the Racing Masters?
That would really be a step forward in completing the data.



Interesting... overlap for the Ford C100 indicates that aforementioned cars are all using the same module.

SRB pinions are just "regular" pinions, there's nothing special about them


Wild Willy M38 (& others that use the same gearbox) have pressed on pinions that are the same overall length as regular pinions, but they're not turned down to make space for the grub screw - so the pinion effectively has much longer than average teeth.

Although you can get regular style pinions (i.e. screw down ones) with longer than average teeth, they won't fit in the gearbox due to their overall length ... so you're stuck with using regular pinions, and running on part of the idler gear rather than its whole length.

I don't see it as a problem though - other cars (especially the Frog/Brat) have really "short" spur gears & they're generally not regarded as the weak point of that gearbox, I've used a regular pinion in my M38 (not the one that's in bits, obviously - though that will get a regular pinion when I rebuild it), abused the car quite badly & it's not caused a problem ... although I haven't tried it with a hopped up motor

only thing different at the SRB pinions is that the small one, 15T if i am right, is steel not aluminium.

also looking for Willy pinions that are the right lenght, was thinking of contacting these guys to ask if they have something fitting.

35, 36, 37 and 39 all use the same gearboxcasing.
35 has two versions of the same gearbox with 15T layout, some gears, bearings and axles were changed in the lwb version
36, 37 and 39 have a different gearbox plate and layout to fit the 18T setup (idler gear is a bit off center)
