I was just thinking how the idler gear is mounted in the casing with an 18T pinion...
Isn't it on crooked when the hole in the gearbox plate is at a different position? Sure would be nice if I could have a real look at some of the cars. And a dealer's guide would also come in very handy. |

I know this website its called tamiyabase they have some nice copies of T manuals, if you have a look at the M38 lwb and wheeler manual at step 15 you can see and compare how the idler gear fits in. |

I've been looking at 65 manuals so far of course.
It doesn't show the inside of the casing though... But a Tamiya peculiar! I noticed I have two different manuals for the 58035. The second one I just looked at, shows the gearbox assembly completely mirrored... I can see the second mounting hole in the gearcase there. |

yep top picture is M38 lwb and the lower one the M38 swb right, now compare the step in the top picture with the one in the wheeler manual, you should be able to see a 'small' offset.

58023 Holiday Buggy
58024 Sand Rover 15 tooth & 18 tooth .8 module Taken from Robinson Racing web list; "Note: 32 pitch and .8 module gears can be used together with no adverse affects such as increased noise or increased wear. The difference is that .8 module gears have a slightly larger outside diameter per tooth, roughly .00027 of an inch." And I have found out that .8 mod actually equals 31.75 pitch. Hope this helps.

Wouldn't it be nice also to have infos about the diff/idle/counter/pulley gears, the inner and outer ratio of the gear box and the diameter of the wheels? I where searching yesterday about my moded 58058. The BF/MB (instead of Frog/Brat) has a 52tooth Counter gear, a inner gear with 17t and the diff has about 48t.
