I think they're JIS as well, since they really grip the Tamiya (and other Japanes) screws... Before I was always fooling around, trying to find the right size driver. Can't locate the packaging to see if there's any real clues but for me the proof's in the pudding on these. |

I can use Google & Wikipedia as well as the next person so I'm well aware of the differences between Phillips & JIS points (although Frearson is something again, at least an order of magnitude more obscure?) ... I'm just not clear what the Tamiya screwdrivers are - they don't use the JIS symbol & don't say one way nor the other, unless it's in Japanese - and I don't want to buy one & it turn out to be a Phillips point - which is what a lot of sellers list it as (or provide no information at all).
I'm thinking a JIS screwdriver would be more compatible with Phillips screws than an a Phillips driver is with JIS screws & perhaps that's where the sellers' are coming from. Tamiyas lack of information is just one of context - they assume that when they list a + screwdriver, medium, as being required in the manual that people will know they mean a JIS point, just as a UK weather forecast might cite a temperature of 16, and a US forecast 61, and assume the recipient will know they don't mean 16 Fahrenheit or 61 Celcius |

Hooray! I guess "M3 ~ M5" is the screw sizes it's recommended for (this is the "L" size driver? ), "HRC50" looks like a hardness rating |

Yep, it's the large one. Package on the medium driver states M2-M2.6... Now who knows Japanese to figure out what is says before "M3.5-M5" on the package? On the other one "M2-M3" is printed there. |
