The bodywork is held on at the back by two prongs, and in the middle by an M3 machine screw through the driver & bodywork - so I had to add some some of fitting to the driver, basically I dremelled off a bit of the left hand, added a bti of styrene tube, then a bit of 3mm styrene sheet in the bottom - I could tell you that was for load spreading & easier access, but TBH it was because I'd made such a mess of drilling the hole
Still, at least I've found a material my "lathe" is good on I gave all the steel bits a wet rub down with 400 grit paper to get the rust off... Original finish appears to be oil blueing - I found this under the sticky pad tht had been holding a servo down: I was briefly tempted to have a go with re-blueing the bits (my car needs an oil change - it's a turbodieseasel, so there'd certainly be enough carbon in there ), but thought the Bilt Hamber "Hydrate 80" rust treatment I'd used before would be a bit safer & longer lasting:

A bit more work on the body... primer revelealed where my repairs needed more work, and a lot of marks on the bodywork. I'm not sure if they're related to me stripping paint off, but I only used rag & a toothbrush, so I suspect they're from over enthuisiastic sanding done to key the previous paintjob.
Either way, after a lot more filling & sanding it's ready for priming: I've also given the driver/interior 2-3 coats of the basic colours, I'm have a go at details later.

Sweet work JR I wasn't expecting any paint to be done, so the driver was a pleasant surprise ! good job
If you can't fix it with a hammer, you've got an electrical problem mate

I'm sure you've already seen this, I've never noticed these before but now you have been restoring one, I can't help but notice them

I'm still thinking yellow - towards the orange end of the spectrum rather than the lemon end

Helmets should be purple.
Bit surprised you haven't gone for a separate working visor there Jonny. If the helmet is hollow, I reckon it would be possible to plonk a faced-head inside with a bit of mutilation

I feel I should recognise that, but I don't. What's it from?
