If you can't fix it with a hammer, you've got an electrical problem mate :)

More progress on the #1 body:

1 - clearcoat, fairly shiny ...

2 - bit of orange peel & a lot of fuzziness in closeup ...

3 - surface sanded...

4 - polished ...

5 - more reflections :)

I've been doing a bit of work on the 2nd car ... on the driver figure here - probably more pics/detail than anyone's interested in ...

Repro non-specific driver, as arrived:

Cut out:

New cockpit built out of styrene sheet:

Primed:

2-3 coats of base colours brushed on:

& some details:

Body on the other hand, my photos seem to have gone straight from needing primer ...

... to polished

In other news, polycarbonate drive cleaned up far better than expected & I'm wondering if I should have persevered with it to start with...

Paint on the bumpers, which looked really good when the car arrived a few weeks ago had deteriorated really badly, and got a lot worse when the bits went in the ultrasonic tank ... I can only think they'd been painted with the wrong sort of paint really recently, without any sort of preparation - including not taking off wet dirt

I now have another pile of clean bits, although they do need further attention - wheels need stripping & repainting, brass polishing, plastic sanding & polishing, etc etc...

:)

I still have a few to clearcoat (being held up by the gale howling outside ATM), but I felt like decalling up the white shell ...

It came up that well that I thought I'd stick with the OE decal shapes, just in different colours - I thought red & orange would work, but it didn't look that pleasant ...

... so I stuck with the boxart colours, just swapping the yellow and white;

I'm quite happy with it ... but I can't help thinking I've seen that combination of colours elsewhere ...

Oh crap :S
