Cool, Flo! Looking forward to that one. Love the DT look.
What ratio's recommended for your brushless? Wb, a bit more tuning coming for that picture. But really only of the aesthetic kind. Funki, this doesn't do much for protecting the shock tower or top lid of the gearbox... It's to prevent the body mounts from swaying back and forth (because of the heavy hard body). Besides that functionality, it does look pretty awesome on the car as well. Man, ready for a second run... and it starts raining again. |

Sounds like I'm a lot better off with that bit of rain.
That was easy enough (I think) - just put more tension on the springs by adjusting the ring on the dampers. |

Yeah, later I saw on the news that what I had was only a tiny bit of some really bad weather.
New design for clamping the shell on the front tower...... To recap - I have used the upper bit of the original front Humvee body mount. A bridge on which the body clamps. I'd made two sleeves to attach to this. These will then slide over regular body mounts, making it somewhat height adjustable. Two vulnerabilities arose... using hollow carbon for the sleeves wasn't the best choice. It will start splitting at the end, despite reinforcement with CA glue. Secondly, I made the body posts too short. The lack of overlap made the flexibility worse. Mock up here on the left : The bits on the right are the new parts... First of all I will be using longer body posts. Still height adjustable, just needs a bit more reassembly. The sleeves are plastic (ABS?) with 4mm inner and 6mm outer diameter. The carbon I used had an inner diameter of 5mm. Because the body post are about 4.8mm wide, the carbon wasn't a very tight fit. Another weak spot in the construction. I drilled out the new bits to slightly over 4.8mm so there is no more room to wiggle. Altogether leading to much less flexibility (where it all started because that made the shell get loose)... A tricky bit - getting a 2mm hole exactly straight and in the right place on both sides so I can put a screw through : Glued together... turning it upside down to dry so the epoxy runs into the crevices : Dried : Sanded, painted and assembled (ready to go on the car) : |

Edou, yeah but you can also stiffen the rear shock tower with something like that. Mountend on gearbox and rear shock tower.
The wether here is also heavy. Very high humidity and lot of water... |
