maybe try Dot 4 brake fluid as well :) This is a body Manotas stripped with it, His tip was to apply fluid then put in direct sunlight :)

Thanks Andy. I have thought about using Dot 4. It sounds like you need to leave it for a while.
I think once I’ve finishedy my last can of Mykal Graffiti Remover, I will try the similar spray that Rob suggested.

As Flo suggested, Media blasting is excellent :) Of course I am lucky to have a setup ;)

I saved this FAV chassis a while back and it has become my FrankenOne

I have the chance that a friend has a sand blasting cabinet. And like to make this for me. Yesterday we tried to blast and save a lexan body. First test ok with used fine sand.

Thanks Flo and Andy for the top advice. I read some of the treads on here.
I haven’t got the space, our garage is totally full, that’s the down side to having your loft converted. For the projects I’m doing this is one of the worst, so Graffiti remover, elbow grease and some wet and dry will do for now.
Andy, I loved your collection of FAV’s and Wild One’s.
It’s one of those chassis that is great for creating alternatives.
Like your FrankenOne.
Andy while I’m at it, I bought this after seeing the various ORV alternatives you made up.

Not sure what I’m going to do with it ?? Ha ha.

Thanks :) Well it has a Brat front post mount, Maybe a pickup variant like a Landfreeder ;) Looks like it is only 8mm shorter in the wheelbase.

Hi Andy, thanks for the suggestion, my eldest has got the Freelander.
I’ve actually got the Brat body.

But I’d wanted to do something more scale with that. The details are amazing.
I’d thought about making up an SRB chassis, but narrow the track width. I’ve seen the back end narrowed. And I reckon I could do something on the front.

Failing all that, it could all go back as Tamiya intended.

Another go at the chassis this afternoon.

It’s coming along nicely.
It’s back in the garage at the minute, having another treatment of graffiti remover.
Hoping to get this finished today.
It will still need a fix and finally resprayed.

While leaving the graffiti remover to get to work, I’ve started cleaning and polishing everything else.

It’s all coming up quite nicely.
I think the plan at the minute is clean everything. Raid the spares and steal the axles off an incomplete ORV. Then put it together. Basically I’m trying to buy myself some time before I have to spend any money on this build. Plus then I’ll know exactly which parts I need. And they can be fitted straight onto the partially built chassis.

Bits on the right came off the car.
Bits on the left I’ve held onto for 30+ years.
The originals ones won’t clean up well enough, stained with paint and the plastic has lost it’s sheen.
So the old/new ones finally get used.

Oddly I had the whole sprue, but the rear trailing arms were missing.

So it’s a week on since I started on the FAV.
So just to round off we’re I’ve got to.

So gear box has been cleaned up and proper bearings fitted.
And back together.

And as I had hoped, I’ve got the chassis back together.
I can now work out which fasteners I need to find or buy.
I’ll have a look through my boxes of spares for any useful bits.
Then it’s time to put together the list of parts needed to finish this off.

The chassis still needs to be fixed. So once I’ve got my shopping list together, I’ll probably strip it all back down,
grease the gear box, fix the chassis and spray it.
